The Experience:
Our place isn't a fancy condo with luxury amenities, and it doesn't have a million dollar uninterrupted view of the ocean. Instead we offer the authenticity of an Ecuadorian beach stay. A cozy home away from home, set up for you to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing vacation a few steps from the sand.

Location: the property is in front of the beach, private, quiet except for the crashing of the waves and surrounded by locals not tourists. You will quickly settle into being part of our tranquil little village and feel distant from the stresses of your everyday life.

Amenities:
Fully self contained with the kitchen , living area and bathroom just for you. Hot water! WIFI in all rooms - kitchen-lounge/bedroom/bathroom . Private entrance. Access to a ground floor communal hammock terrace stretching across the property in front of the ocean.

Digital Nomads:
many of our guests work online successfully. There is fibre wifi which has proven sufficent for online teaching, online life coaching, zoom meetings, running a virtual office etc. The apartment has a table that you can use as a desk. The biggest endorsement is that some of our digital nomad return to stay with us.

The Layout: The open plan lounge/dining/kitchen is an airy and light space. Your large windows overlook the seafront communal hammock terrace. Having this shared terrace means your windows can't be directly overlooking the beach, but you do have a pretty and restful vista to enjoy as shown in the photos. Just 10m from your front door and you are at the beach!

The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and equipment, making self catering an easy option . There is a good sized table for eating or working and a sofa/day bed for relaxing. Plenty of power points for electronics throughout the apartment. (there is no oven)

Sleeping: It can get hot around here so you dont want the hot sun beating into your bedroom. To avoid this, your spacious bedroom is purposefully secluded away from the street and the sun's rays to create a quiet and shady oasis. The sound of the waves creates peaceful rest in the comfy bed. There is a reading nook, a big double wardrobe with a chest of drawers and plenty of storage space for longer stays.

Cooling: Ecuador is tropical and can get hot, particularly January to May. For guest comfort the apartment has two ceiling fans and three powerful floor fans to create a refreshing internal breeze. However fans won't convert warm breeze to cold breeze like AC. We don't have air conditioning, preferring to be fan cooled to keep our eco foot print small. You are guaranteed to catch the cooling sea breezes on the terrace.

Security: We have a Self Check-in system and your private front door is key-less with a keypad (you will be given the keycode and WIFI on day of check-in). All windows have security fittings and mosquito netting. Usefully sized in-room safe, big enough to secure laptops, cameras etc. There are security cameras on the exterior of the property.

Special touches: It is the little things that make the difference, showing that we are interested in your comfort and want you to enjoy your stay:
* Uber comfy hammock chairs for resting, beach towels, beach chairs & an umbrella to relax under and a foot bath to wash the sand from your feet .
*A welcome pack of essentials like bottled water , oil, perked coffee , salt, milk and sugar to get you started on your vacation.
* Friendly smiles and willingness to share local insider info on what to do and where to go

** Please note that we work most days and also like to travel, so we are not always available onsite and can only be reliably contacted through the Airbnb chat system. However, when we are away from home we have an addtional local support system from 9am - 5pm

Manglaralto is peaceful, populated by local families with few expats or tourists. There is a quiet buzz from locals going about their business, chickens running around , the Community PA telling you about fund raisers and fiestas and the occasional hum of salsa music. By 9pm the streets are empty and quiet, leading to lovely restful sleep time.

Few restaurants or bars, but some small cabanita style restaurants on the beach about 2 minutes walk to the north which serve great local style breakfasts and lunches. Also places to buy basic groceries or a few beers. Walking is our usual transportation mode!

Montanita is really close so it is easy to swing by there to grab a cocktail, pizza , sushi or any other food and beverage you feel like. If you fancy dancing there are a few fun clubs to hang out in.

There is a lot to keep you occupied if you want to spend some time away from the beach. Dos Mangas set in a dry tropical forest with birds, monkeys , waterfalls and natural swimming pools is 7km away. Here you can horseride and hike in the verdant natural environment.
Also you can try out Agua Blancas, Los Frailles, Ayampe, Salinas, Paragliding, Biking, Inexpensive massages and Whale watching in Puerto Lopez

I am a Kiwi, from New Zealand , who arrived in Ecuador in 2011 and decided to change my life and stay. My lifestyle here is almost too good to be true, very healthy with yoga and exercise part of every day as well as walks on the beach and swimming. Another added bonus is the fish , seafood, fresh fruit and vegetables which are cheap and plentiful.

I am kept busy being self employed and I have the best office in the world in front of the ocean. Travel for work and pleasure is a big part of my life, and I enjoy the rich diversity or Ecuador and the rest of the world. But I find I miss my tranquil life here on the coast and always look forward to returning home.

Luckily I am surrounded by good people, experienced in hospitality, who help me out with hosting and making sure my Airbnb guests have a chill and pleasurable stay.

We hope you enjoy the privacy and independence of your apartment. Arturo and I come and go for work and travelling so it varies whether we will be at home during your stay. But no worries, to make our guests feel at ease and in the know about the area, we are happy to answer your questions in person when we are at home.

If we are not around, we can provide help through some friendly locals from 9am - 5pm.. Jorge is our local liaison, he speaks good English and is a source of goodvtips and advice.

All of us have other jobs, so we can't be onsite 24/7 but we are always contactable through the Airbnb message system although it may take some time to reply as we aren't online constantly. We prefer to use the message system for two way communication with our guests. Please make sure you check your messages as we will be sending you directions, useful tips and (on the day of your check in) we will send you the entrance code for your booked apartment.

On or prior to check in day, we will be sending you a message to set up a mutually convenient time to say hola! and share some inside info about all the great places to go in our area.
