Come and enjoy peace and nature in Elagiri Hills. Our space is a nature retreat where we practice permaculture and animal husbandry in a peaceful setting. If you want to experience what it is like to live outside of this city, this is just the place for your next weekend getaway!

We have 6 lovely cottages set amongst the stunning Elagiri Hills.

Each cottage is fully self-contained with two double bedrooms; a bathroom with shower and toilet; kitchenette and sitting / dining room.

The cottages each have their own access which is situated off the garden.

This is the perfect location for families, friends or groups who want to step away from their busy, noisy lives.

Listen to the birdsong, smell the flowers, or check out some of the animals we keep. Pet our rabbits, see our chickens and other birds, and listen to our proud roosters crow.

Surrounded by beautiful hills in the midst of a nature reserve, there are many places to trek, including the awe-inspiring Swami Malai peak and the easier hike to Prayer Rock, both of which are easily accessible from here and give fantastic views of the surrounding villages and into the valley below. At night you can see the stars without the city light pollution.

There is a climbing frame and roundabout for smaller children and gardens where we keep animals and grow seeds - we currently have two dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs. You are welcome to relax and wander around.

The kitchens are equipped with stove-top hob, crockery/cutlery and a sink. If you’d prefer not to cook then we can arrange catering to be brought to you at an additional charge.

For the more adventurous we are close to adventure and fun activities such as mini-golf, quad biking and zorbing!

Cottages can be booked individually, or we welcome group bookings.

We live on site, but the cottages are all individual and private.

Speak to us about other accommodation options if you are a larger group - we also have dormitories and campsites, as well as a community hall for weddings, churches, scouts, schools etc.

Parking - there is parking for cars at our second campus which is a 3 minute walk away. You can drop your luggage at the cottages first - there is a short walk up our pathway.

Please note, the road to our place is currently being upgraded and the going is a little bumpy. Our landscaping is also still being completed, so there may still be some work to tidy this up when you arrive; we hope to have this finished as soon as possible. We have reduced our prices for guests at this time in recognition of this.

Our property is quite remote - at least 5 kms from a proper hotel or restaurant; there are a couple of local shop stalls within 10 minutes walk.

You might encounter bugs and creepy crawlies during your stay - the rooms are clean, but we are in the country!

Our water is sourced from a bore well, which means it is not filtered and purified like in a hotel.

I am a retired social entrepreneur and the campus where my listings are located are in a school campus that was established by me and my family.
My son, Barnabas and his family help run this to raise funds to revive our social impact programmes including the school which has temporarily suspended operations. The following is from him:
"This area is really a "part of me" and I am excited to be able to share it with you.

My parents originally came here to run the Samaritan Residential School which gave a 'holistic' education to children from all around Asia. I have returned from overseas in order to focus on getting the school back up and running..... but that is a long-term plan.

We think this area is something special and we believe people who come will get the chance to spend time with themselves, with those they love and with nature which enables them to be their 'best selves.'

When you stay with us you do more than pay for a service - any profits we make we are reinvesting in this area - for establishing a permaculture farm, educational opportunities and conservation.
