Perched on a hilltop overlooking Grand Étang, Cedar Peak offers unparalleled vistas. Watch the sun rise over the highlands through the 13ft window, while you sip coffee from the open-concept living area. After a day of exploring, unwind on the panoramic patio as the sun sets over the ocean. Cedar Peak is fully loaded with a full kitchen, home theatre, and many other amenities. We built this house ourselves to create a secluded, barrier-free chalet for the ultimate Cape Breton experience.

Our modern take on the classic A-Frame, Cedar Peak is a unique chalet that we designed and handcrafted from local white cedar. Everything from the cabinetry to the furniture is custom made by us on-site, striving to build a stunning, barrier-free accommodation that can be enjoyed by all. Cedar Peak is decorated with works by local Cape Breton artists.

Drive directly up to the front porch to access the step-free entrance to Cedar Peak. An accessible boardwalk wraps around the house to the patio overlooking Grand Étang, Cape Breton Highlands, and the ocean. The boardwalk continues to connect the patio to the lookout: a panoramic viewing platform overlooking Squirrel Mountain.

Enter in to the open-concept living space which is easy to navigate for those requiring barrier-free access. The A-frame's vaulted ceiling lets in copious amounts of natural light. The space features a dining nook with wrap-around seating and bench. Moving the bench provides access for utilization of a wheelchair. The microwave, glassware, food storage containers, oils & spices are all located in the cabinet on right side of nook.

Kitchen is equipped with full-size stove, oven, fridge & dishwasher. Coffee maker, grinder, moka pot, kettle, coffee, tea, sugar, milk & cream are all included. Small appliances include toaster, blender & Kitchen-Aid stand mixer. Dishes, cutlery, utensils, pots & pans are all found in the drawers to the right of the oven.

Living room seating provides a comfortable space for viewing the entertainment center, or watching the sunsets from the 13ft" window. The entertainment center includes a 75" Sony 4K TV with home theatre system and full size Yamaha Keyboard. Our Guide Book can be found located to the left of the TV.

From the barrier-free hallway you will gain access to the bathroom on the left, nook bedroom straight ahead, master bedroom on the right. The Master bedroom with king size bed features 55" Sony 4K TV, Taylor guitar, and ample storage space with a dresser and armoire. The Nook bedroom with queen size bed features 42" TV and ample storage space in drawers below the bed and shelving for luggage above.

The bathroom includes 2 sinks, one with access for a wheelchair. Grab bars are located around the comfort level toilet. Try out the towel warmer for a cozy experience on a chilly day! The roll-in shower has grab bars and a shower bench and includes both an adjustable hand-held shower head and rain shower head.

We spent over 25 years combined as nightclub DJ's in Toronto and gave it all up to create a quiet homestead on the west coast of Cape Breton Island. We moved here in April of 2017 and began living off the land, detached from the grid, using our 4 acre oceanfront lot as a blank canvas to build our dream home.

We lived in a fifth wheel trailer without heat, running water, or any amenities for 6 months. We had intended to travel back to Toronto for winters to DJ until we had completed building our house, but we fell too in love with this place to re-adapt to city life. In one crazy weekend we fulfilled a lifelong dream of getting a dog (our adorable Border Collie, Griffey) and bought The Green House. For 5 seasons, we have run The Green House as an AirBnB and the perfect launching point for families or friends to explore the Cabot Trail in an authentic Acadian home.

In 2018 we began broke ground on our dream project Cedar Peak: a stunning barrier-free chalet perched on a hilltop above Grand Étang. We started with an untouched piece of land installed all of the infrastructure through several gruelling years. Handcrafted and designed by us on-site, Cedar Peak boasts an unmatched panoramic view of Grand Étang, Cape Breton highlands, and the ocean.

With over 50 countries visited between us our love of travelling, meeting people, and experiencing other cultures defines us. We're avid photographers who have been traversing picturesque landscapes chasing the perfect sunset until we settled here in our own paradise. We're carving out a sustainable future for ourselves in a stunning rural community that inspires us to create art & music. We welcome travelers from all over the world to our rentals and will do anything to make your experience on the Cabot Trail unforgettable!
