Welcome to our dream vacation home, centrally located inside Yosemite National Park!

-Glorious sunsets and incredible stargazing on clear evenings
-Surrounded by tall trees and lush foliage!

Bright and clean, the one bedroom/one bath apartment offers a full kitchen, lots of windows, a gas fireplace in the living room, and its own deck with a gas BBQ (except in snowy weather), linen is provided and kitchen is fully equipped.

Centrally located to the 3 main tourist destinations in the park: Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point (closed in 2022) and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias -- each of these locales are about 25-35 minutes drive.

Amenities: freshly laundered linen, gas BBQ (not in use during winter) , full kitchen (coffee, sugar, hot cocoa, oil, basic spices), hair dryer, shampoo and bath soaps.

Please send inquiry before booking and tell us a little bit about yourself and your party. Please inquire with us if you have any issues with available nights or minimum stays during your desired dates.

NOTE: We cannot accept a reservation that leaves a single night vacant between your desired dates and already booked dates.

Mostly DISCONNECTED - no cable TV or reliable cell phone reception in this area and most of the park.
INTERNET: Satellite based WiFi is sufficient for emails and very basic internet use, available mostly before 8am (no streaming, downloads, or heavy internet use is possible).

The treetop views are made possible by ascending 38 stairs from the street level. Parking for one car only, on off-street paved area. The unit is located on the mid-level floor, below the Sunset House unit.

*** The Red Door apt. is the smaller, totally independent guest unit at the YOSEMITE SUNSET HOUSE duplex property, located below our other unit, on the mid-level floor; you may hear foot steps and other occupancy sounds coming from the vacation unit above -- soundproofing is in place but in sounds do travel!

The apartment comfortably sleeps one couple. If your party would like separate beds, please contact us in advance to discuss sleeping arrangements as the pull-out sofa is not typically recommended for an adult (with some exceptions).
This property is not child-proofed so constant adult supervision is a must.

--visitor center, water falls, restaurants, fast food, Yosemite museum, art gallery, bookstore, theater, grocery store, art center, and more

Glacier Point = 17 miles --spectacular vistas ... a must see! ... view 3,214 feet down to Yosemite Valley.

Wawona = 14 miles --golf, restaurant, Pioneer history center, convenience store and gas station

Mariposa Grove of Giant Redwoods = 20 miles --500 BIG trees (parking ... and head of hiking trail)

Curry Village = 17 miles --restaurant, pizza deck, bicycle rentals, ice rink, and more

Badger Pass Ski Area = 7 miles --skiing, cross-country skiing, ski lessons

Tuolumne Meadows and Tioga Road= 65 miles (1.5 hrs drive) --high country ... scenic drive up to almost 10,000 ft elevation

Yosemite West, is centrally located INSIDE the park's gates, only 1 mile off Hwy 41, and it's exclusively residential; closest store/restaurant/medical clinic/etc are located in the Valley area (30 min drive).
Our neighborhood is quiet at night and when weather cooperates, it offers great star gazing opportunities. Outside lights should be turned off for best stargazing conditions for all visitors and residents.
Parking outside of designated parking spaces is not allowed.

TRASH HANDLING: Due to Yosemite being prime bear habitat, there is no public garbage pick up hence strict garbage handling house rules apply.

IMPORTANT NOTE about FIRE HAZARD: there is no firehouse or firefighting help in our area therefore extreme caution is required when using BBQs (when allowed) and wood burning fireplaces are off limit to guests.

Hello, Georgetta and co-host Ben welcome you to our dream vacation home in beautiful Yosemite National Park!
Our entire family -- from grandparents to grandkids -- loves nature: the sea, the mountains, the rivers, and their creatures.
We dreamed about a cabin for family vacations and then, we found the Sunset House, a great family home inside the Park! (More information on this duplex vacation rental property is available on our own website).

One of our favorite things to do at the house after the sun sets, is to turn off all the lights in the house and stargaze on the front deck.

We'd like to invite travelers to stay at the Yosemite Sunset House or the Red Door guest apartment while visiting Yosemite National Park and enjoy the natural wonders and SPECTACULAR scenery the park offers.
