St Martin de Re is a beautiful port and town defined by its history. The fortifications which encircle the town where initially installed on the orders of Cardinal Richelieu in the early 1600s, and expanded by French Naval Architect, Vauban in 1670.
The double sink port quayside is lined with restaurants, all offering a different view of the town, along with a diverse range of menus.
The narrow pedestrian streets offer chic boutiques and opportunities for those in need of retail therapy.
Our favourite place is the Martiniere - for the nicest ice cream gelato on the island and probably on the west coast of France.
