Just a cruisy walk from the car park down onto Portsea back beach you’ll find the London Bridge; one of the most impressive and unique rock formations that lines the Mornington Peninsula coastline. “The Pen” (local slang for Mornington Peninsula) is well known for being Melbourne’s playground. Crowds flock to the bay in Summer to swim at white-sand beaches but only the adventurous souls venture out to the back beaches. Eye-catching rock formations can be spotted on most headlands around Portsea but none quite like the London Bridge. The London Bridge resembles a large amphitheater with portal lookouts to sea… some of natures finest engineering. You can appreciate a birds-eye perspective from the lookout or even wander inside this natural beauty from the beach down below. Plan your adventure for low-tide as surging waves crash up onto the rock and fill the structure.

Eagle Ridge Golf Course began it’s life as the smaller Carlogie Golf Course until March 1988 when an additional parcel of land was purchased, earthworks commenced and a new Kevin Hartley designed championship course began to emerge, opening as Eagle Ridge Golf Course in December 1989. Kevin Hartley was the Australian amateur golf champion of 1958 and runner up to Bruce Devlin in the 1959 Australian Amateur. He captained the Victorian state team thirteen times, was the leading amateur at three Australian Opens and represented Australia many times, including winning the 1966 Eisenhower Cup team in Mexico. Hartley based his design vision on Eagle Ridge becoming the “Royal Melbourne of the Mornington Peninsula”.

Carnival

Located on the Rye Foreshores on Pt Nepean Rd, our annual carnivals are a nostalgic holiday adventure for so many families. Since first running the Rye Carnival in 1955 to raise money for the rebuilding of the Rye RSL, we’ve been proud of our place in peninsula history. The annual Summer Carnival is back at Rye foreshore, opening Boxing Day. Some changes to ticketing and event capacity have changed due to COVID-19 restrictions. We are thrilled that the Rye Carnival is back this year, continuing the Summer carnival traditions and to bring some much needed joy and fun.
