Informazioni sulla città/località

Bolsena is our favourite day out, it’s an amazing, beautiful lake about 30mins drive or a 40-50 min cycle to get there, all downhill but to get back maybe 1hr 30mins – quicker if you cycle a lot! there’s a lot of uphill! At the lake there are many bars and restaurants and areas to walk around the edge of the lake and there is dedicated paid for parking. Bolsena the town itself is lovely for a walk round or a casual coffee or lunch. You can walk from the town right up through all of the many routes through the castle area to the top of the hill where you have amazing views over the lake.

Orvieto is the most beautiful town and worthy of at least half a day out and an evening or two, the Duomo is one of the finest in Italy and there are many small shops, bars and restaurants to watch the world go by. Much of Orvieto’s history is hidden deep underneath Orvieto. With this pre-booked admission ticket to Pozzo della Cava, journey below the modern city to experience its history as far back as the ancient Etruscans. Explore caves and tunnels dating back millennia, as well as archaeological ruins, a medieval wine cellar, a Renaissance majolica kiln, and other hidden treasures offering a unique glimpse into Orvieto’s fascinating past. The 14th century Duomo in Orvieto is considered one of the best examples in all of Italy. It’s pretty breathtaking. You can walk right it and if you’d like to see inside there are guided tours or just purchase a ticket to look around.

Marmore Falls - The tallest artificial waterfall in the world, this ancient sight is made up of 3 sections, its just over an hours drive away but is well worth a visit. Check out the timings to make sure that the falls are switched on ! you don’t want to drive all the way there and not see them.

Alimentari/Bar vicino a casa Isla

It is a 15 min walk or a 5-minute drive into Viceno to get to the nearest shop. There is only one! Ettore runs the shop, and he stocks pretty much everything, and he is super helpful, please tell him you are staying at Casale Zeno and he will look after you. At the back of the shop there is a small bar where you can get a great coffee or a drink Opening hours: Monday – 7-12/Tuesday to Saturday 7-6 / Sunday 8-12

Supermercati vicini

If you want to do a supermarket shop then Lidl is the nearest in Sferracavallo on the way into Orvieto, it is a pretty typical Lidl fairly basic, if you want the full supermarket experience with the best range then the COOP in Orvieto Scalo is excellent and only slightly further to drive. If you prefer in Scalo there is also a Eurospin and on the way many small local shops, bread, cake shop, tobacconists and butchers.

Il centro abitato più fornito e più vicino

The nearest town with some bars, restaurant and food shops. There is a fantastic butcher in Castel Viscardo on the High Street next to the barbers so if you are planning using the BBQ then please go and see him and again tell him where you are staying you never know you might get an extra sausage. Nearby there is also a great fruit and veg shop and an ATM.

Spostamenti

There is a bus which operates from the local village (10mins walk) and goes into Orvieto, it only operates a few times a day. Orvieto station is about 20mins by car, there are several car parks that surround the historic centre and you can follow the parking signs to easily find them. Its also possible to take the Funicular (cable railway) from down in Orvieto Scalo up to the historic town. From Orvieto station you can get to Rome in just over an hour Trenitalia is a good app to use and you can book and downloads tickets. Prices one way to Rome start at about 8 Euros depending on the train.
