Budapest's greenest island is just a couple of tram stops away from Kincsem apartment (tram no 1). It takes about an hour to walk across Margaret Island, you can climb Margaret Island’s beautiful water tower built in Art Nouveau style in 1911. On the northern tip of the island there’s a Japanese garden, you can take a walk through the ruins of a Franciscan Monastery or visit Margaret Island’s very own baths, Palatinus Strand.

Still, it's an easy train trip from the Buda side of the Árpád bridge (HÉV Flórián tér), and the town's dozens of art museums, galleries, small restaurants and churches are well worth the trip. Just try to avoid visiting on weekends in summer.
Just 5 km northwest of Szentendre is Hungary's most ambitious skanzen (open-air museum).
