Ryogoku is a bustling district in the east end of Tokyo across the Sumida River from Asakusabashi. Ryogoku is best known as the spiritual heartland of sumo in Japan. Ryogoku is a blend of the down-to-earth (typical of Fukagawa a little further south), with its main street conglomeration of restaurants, entertainment, temples, parks and museums.
